This week we are taking a little break from Rays of Sunshine to highlight a local ministry. City of Hope Outreach. They are working within our local community to spread the gospel and reach out to people in need. Their annual gala fundraiser is coming up and if you are local you should certainly check it out.
The City of Hope Outreach was birthed from God’s voice to Phil Fletcher's ear.  God made it abundantly clear that the Fletcher family's mission was to go and fulfill the work He had called them to. I know at this point you are wondering what is City of Hope Outreach (aka CoHO)? CoHO is a 501c3 organization that promotes holistic community renewal in under resourced areas through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We go into communities in our city that are broken down by poverty, drugs, abuse, and lack of education to restore people and things to beauty in Christ. We have several initiatives that speak directly to the needs of the community, but before any of that we build relationships with people. We believe that men and women are image bearers of the living God and our treatment of people should reflect that truth. So we walk alongside the abused woman, the child that is struggling in school, and the husband who is looking for work that he can’t seem to find. We have a thriving after school tutoring and mentor initiative with 35 children enrolled called Oakwood Learning Academy for school aged children. We have seen child grow by leaps and bounds through this type of mentor ship and tutoring. The kids really want to succeed. We want to see them succeed and become productive members of society. I could go on for days about the various areas of growth I have seen in families, children, volunteers, and myself. But I want you to take a look at the areas of service available for you to participate in.
· Oakwood Learning Academy
· King’s Club
· 40 Hour Immersion
· Community Lunch
· Hope Institute (Seminars & Workshops)
· Counseling
· Community Thanksgiving Banquet
· Christmas Store
